Top 10 Most Beautiful Male Actors

June 25th 2008 07:57
Ladies and gentleman swoon away, I’m counting down my personal list of beautiful male actors.

Believe me this was no easy feat, there are just too many good-looking men floating around Hollywood.

In no particular order:

Marlon Brando

Named the fourth greatest male star of all time. Best performance: ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’.

Montgomery Cliff

Best performances: ‘A Place in the Sun’ and ‘From Here to Eternity’

James Dean

Best performances: ‘Giant’ and ‘Rebel Without a Casue’

Paul Newman

Best performances: ‘Cat On a Hot Tin Roof’ and ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’

Brad Pitt

Best performance: ‘Legends of the Fall’

Will Estes

Best performance: ‘American Dreams’ (Hardly anyone has heard of him which is a travesty in its self, he is gorgeous)

Emile Hirsch

Best performances: ‘Into the Wild’ and ‘Lords of Dogtown’

Leonardo DiCaprio (old-school)

Best performance: ‘Romeo and Juliet’

James Marsden

Best performances: ‘Disturbing Behaviour’ and ‘Hairspray’

David Boreanaz

Best performance: ‘Buffy the Vampire slayer’ and ‘Angel’

PHEW!!! That was an enjoyable experience!! Reviewing this list I noticed I missed many of my other fav male actors. So I will just have to name them briefly:

*Ryan Phillippe
*Ryan Gosling
*Gerrard Butler
*Milo Ventimeglia
*Jared Padalecki
*Chad Michael Murray
*Rodrigo Santoro

Stick It - Movie Review

June 23rd 2008 06:31
It’s a guilty pleasure okay.

This 2006 teen comedy stars Missy Peregrym (Heroes, Reaper) Vanessa Lengies (American Dreams), Jeff Bridges (Fearless, Ironman), Kellan Lutz (Twilight) and John Patrick Amedori (The Butterfly Effect) and written and directed by Jessica Bendinger.

The main plot revolves around 17 year old Haley Graham, a retired gymnast, who has a penchant for getting into trouble with the law. After being sentenced to enroll in a strict gymnast program, she falls in love with the sport again.
At a major qualifying event, after much hostility from other gymnasts (regarding her walkout of World Championships, losing team America Gold) we learn the real reason for her departure from the sport.
The conclusion of the film is based around the National Championships, where the girls stage a massive rebellion against the judges. Intentionally scratching, and choosing the winners of the individual events.

Now while this movie isn’t winning any awards anytime soon, it is quite enjoyable. But be warned oldies are most likely not going to like it; it is pretty much a bona fide teens flick. First time director Bendinger does an excellent job, the quirky overhead shots of choreographed gymnast routines, doubled up shots, just adds a whole other dimension to what could be a blandly shot teen crapfest.

Missy Peregrym was great as rebel gymnast Haley in her first leading role in a feature film, Vanessa Lengies was divine as clueless airhead gymnast Joanne, delivering some hilarious one-liners (those that watch American Dreams, will love to see Roxanne a world away from her character) Jeff Bridges was exceptional as head coach Burt Vickerman, (though I somehow think he would have done this flick no matter what it was about, all the teen girls running around the place in leotards).

There are also some appearances from past and present gymnasts such as the incredibly talented American gymnast Nastia Liukin.

I would recommend this to anybody in for some fluffy light entertainment, for kicking back and having a laugh. Don’t expect some life altering revelation to come from this movie, because you will be waiting a while.

3.5/5

(Now do I get an award for the most time the word gymnast is used?)

Review coming soon.

The basic premise of the film is as follows.

Multiple lives cross in this story of victims and victimizers, and how the pain of early childhood traumas can continue throughout the characters' adult lives. Jiz is an intelligent yet socially insecure young man who struggles to work at an adult newspaper. He was victimized as a child by a friend of his father. Jiz's name comes from the nickname his dad gave him while making him mop up the messes left behind in the peep show booths at the neighborhood porn shop. One day he meets Balery who has come in to place an ad in the adult newspaper. At first Jiz refuses to run the ad because he knows Balery is looking to hire a hit man, but then he reluctantly decides to take on the job himself in order to make the money he needs to pay off a local crime boss to let an indebted callgirl go free. Meanwhile, Wes continues whoring out his girlfriend Chantel in order to make enough money to buy her an engagement ring just to shut her up about his lack of commitment. Yet he gets violently upset when he discovers she's been performing lurid sex acts on her customers just to make the extra money he wants. And two intimately close high school girls Melody and Courtney play sexy and flirtatious games with their teacher Mr. Garrett in order to improve their grades, without realizing the violent dangers all their teasing could lead to.

Stars Brittany Snow and Josh Janowitz. Released on 17 June in America, no word on an aussie release date.

Check out this ballbusting scene featuring a feisty Miss Snow (Not for the faint hearted)
