Meryl Streep and Amy Adams both feature in Nora Ephron's movie Julie and Julia released next month.
The drama is an adaptation of two memoirs: Julie Powell's Julie & Julia and My Life in France, by Julia Child with Alex Prud'homme.
Frustrated temp secretary Julie Powell (Amy Adams) embarks on a year-long culinary quest to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. She chronicles her trials and tribulations in a blog that becomes popular with the food crowd. The film also follows Child (Meryl Streep) and her husband Paul (Stanley Tucci) in Paris during the 1940s and 1950s, when he was a foreign diplomat who was eventually investigated by Joseph McCarthy for alleged communist ties.
Julie and Julia intertwines the lives of two women who are both at loose ends...until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.
