Cinema Voyage - Michael Pearson

This blog is PRIMARILY about movies. Some dvd and some that are still in the theater. Also, links are provided on some movies if you decide you want to purchase it. Also, I write and read quite a bit. So, you may, from time to time see a book review here from an up-and-coming author or an interview with one. If you have a book that you have written, please don't hesitate to contact me if you want an unbiased opinion. I would be happy to read and review what you've written. We should value our creative people more.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Movie Review

April 22nd 2008 08:55

The ultimate break-up movie!

I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall last Friday, one day after being released and the cinema was packed. I had heard about this movie months ago mainly because I was a huge Veronica Mars/ Kristen Bell fan, so I was very excited about seeing the film, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was written by Jason Segal and stars Jason Segal (How I Met Your Mother), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars, Pulse), Mila Kunis (That 70’s Show, Family Guy), Russell Brand (St Trinians), Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live) and many more!!!

Based on one of Segal’s real life break-up, the movie tells the story of Peter’s heartbreak after being dumped by his television star girlfriend Sarah Marshall, he goes on a Hawaiian holiday to escape his current life and finds himself in the same hotel as his ex and her new boyfriend an English rocker Aldous Snow. After spending many days crying (on the floor) he finds himself spending more time with hotel employee Rachel, and begins to move on with his life.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall offers stacks of laughs I found myself totally engrossed, the movie flew by which is a rarity for me lately anyways, the last couple of movies ive seen have been snooze fests.
I saw the flick with my mum and my younger brother, and there were quite a few sex scenes, but for the most part they were absolutely hilarious that it wasn’t at all awkward. I was expecting the ‘male’ genitalia shot(s) so I warned my younger brother, but I heard a little ‘oh my god’ and I saw an eye cover.
Every time Mila Kunis spoke all that was going through my head was the Family Guy episode I had seen recently (the hair pie incident, W-heird)!!

I loved the dig at Sarah Marshall’s movie flop, the horror flick in which people die by answering their telephones, a purely co-incidental jive at Kristen Bell’s dud ‘Pulse’.

I thoroughly enjoyed Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
