Cinema Voyage - Michael Pearson

This blog is PRIMARILY about movies. Some dvd and some that are still in the theater. Also, links are provided on some movies if you decide you want to purchase it. Also, I write and read quite a bit. So, you may, from time to time see a book review here from an up-and-coming author or an interview with one. If you have a book that you have written, please don't hesitate to contact me if you want an unbiased opinion. I would be happy to read and review what you've written. We should value our creative people more.

Just a review about Ping Pong…… well sort of

April 12th 2008 08:02

Last night I saw Australian band Operator Please at the Metro Theatre….Free!! (Um, even though I think the tickets were about $20-30) My friend Felicity managed to get on the guest list so that was pretty cool. We weren’t particularly keen on seeing the support bands so we watched ‘Prom Night’ which ill be reviewing later on this week, but the movie wasn’t really long so we caught the last song of ‘Flamingo Crash’ and we sat through the entire set of ‘Little Red’.

Operator Please consist of vocalist and guitarist Amandah Wilkinson, drummer Tim Commandeur, keyboardist Sarah Gardiner, bassist Ashley McConnell and violinist Taylor Henderson. There is no doubt while watching them, that they have an illustrious career ahead of them, they are all incredibly talented.

So all in all they were onstage for around 50-60 mins, the crowd went nutso when they played ‘Just a Song about Ping Pong’ which is to be expected as it was there most popular song. My favourite song of the night was their current single ‘Leave it Alone’.
They also played a pretty cool/interesting version of Devo’s ‘Whip It’, which im sure half of the teen audience didn’t recognise. The crowd mostly comprised of young teens, it was an all age’s gig so there were a large number of ‘children’.

Asides from the keyboardists rather annoying jumping around or whatever it is she does, they were all fantastic, I would definitely check them out again.

So if you guys get the chance I would recommend seeing them, certainly worth the ticket price.
