'Meet the Spartans' - Film Review

March 10th 2008 00:31

Meet the Spartans takes the cake as the worst movie I have ever laid eyes on. The latest spoof/parody produced and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer runs at a measly 75 minutes, which if you ask me was still way to long.

The latest spoof film, a spin-off from ‘Date Movie’ and ‘Epic Movie’, is based mostly on the film ‘300’, with many other references to celebrities, tv shows and movies.

Starring Sean Maguire, Carmen Electra, Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and Ken Davitian (Borat).

The opening sequence, clearly showed the ridiculous and drawn out jokes I would have to endure ad nauseum for the next hour. I found myself thinking of things I needed to do at home, things to buy. I was then jolted back to the ‘movie’ by the thundering laughter of 10 year old boys behind me. I then spent the rest of the movie wondering how brain dead the next generation is going to be, if they thought over done like trash like Meet the Spartans was remotely funny.

My recommendation, if you ever have the displeasure of even walking past the dvd at a video store, run, don’t walk away.

I haven't read any positive reviews of this movie, and to me, it doesn't even really exist. But it made millions and millions of dollars, ensuring that there will be more spoofs...

Sounds like an absolute waste of time. Why do they keep doing this kind of movies anyway!

The real historical account refers to the Ancient Spartans as proud warriors, just like the Samuraies.

I don't think we should represent they in such a wacky way, in a movie.
