My Dog Bella!
April 5th 2008 05:40
I know this post does not come under cinema or film or anything, but the thought of starting another blog doesn’t exactly interest me at the moment, so you may see some posts on here that have nothing to do with movies or even the entertainment world.
So I thought I would dedicate a post to my naughty German Shepherd Bella! What possessed me to write a post about her? I just spent the better half of the morning chasing her around the backyard to get her into her bath. But I love her.
We got Bella when she was 6 weeks old from a breeder in Windsor in May 2005. We waited a few years before we got another dog, after we had to put our 7 year old German shepherd ‘Stella’ down as she had cancer in her back legs and was unable to walk, she was another GREAT dog!!
Bella was an extremely mischievous puppy, constantly chewing on everything from our hands, to our pants and sleeves of clothes. At about 10 weeks we decided to take her to puppy training, where for 3 out of the 4 weeks she hid underneath our chairs for half of the lesson, mind you she was the biggest of all the dogs in the session.
She absolutely loves to walk, she gets so excited she cant even stay still to get the leash on her, though that has calmed down to some degree now, she spends the first two minutes of the walk with some of the leash in her mouth (maybe just in case we change our mind, she can take herself?). She enjoys her weekly swims.
And she has two chew bones (one red, one green) that she got for Christmas 2006, that she takes everywhere with her, if she’s outside they come out with her, if she’s inside she brings them in with her. She loved to play fetch, though she still hasn’t mastered the whole dropping part, though we do have a way to get it off her.
We recently took her to a two week doggy boot camp (Obedience training) to sort out a few of her ‘aggression’ issues, which we are still working with her on, she is no longer allowed on our couch (she doesn’t even try jumping on there anymore which is great) she walks with a check chain, which has also been very helpful to control her we don’t even have to pull on it or use it much.
Her favourite spot in the house is the staircase, though she doesn’t quite fit like she used to. More than anything the best part of my day is coming home and going in the backyard and having a run around with her.
