Prom Night - Movie Review
April 20th 2008 03:36
Caught a screening of Prom Night at Greater Union on George Street… Now they are some comfy seats, that should have given you a hint there, about the nature of this review, basically it was stodgy turd.
The latest remake of the 1980, starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen. The 2008 Prom Night stars; Brittany Snow (American Dreams, John Tucker Must Die), Jonathan Schaech (That Thing You Do), Dana Davies (Heroes), Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) and Kellan Lutz (Twilight) and directed by Nelson McCormick.
Brittany Snow plays the damsel in distress Donna Keppel whose family was murdered by her obsessed former teacher. Basically as the title suggests he goes after her on her prom night, killing all her friends, and it’s not as if im giving anything away here.
There was one thing that distracted me the WHOLE film and that was the enormous scar thing on Brittany Snow’s forehead, I couldn’t concentrate on anything else during the movie.
As far as a Horror/Thriller it failed dismally, the murder/death scenes were sketchy at best and were more than anything extremely amusing, and considering all the deaths in the flick, 14 in total there was virtually no blood. Prom Night was filled with nauseating teeny bopper dialogue and it was cliché galore.
Slightly entertaining, but shallow, you will most likely hate yourself after watching!!

I think there have been too many remakes of films lately, as I've already seen 3:10 To Yuma (decent enough remake) and Sleuth (with Jude Law and Micheal Caine and loved it).
I'm interested in seeing Prom Night out of curiosity.
