Basic Storyline:
A coming of age story about 4 twelve year old boys who have a variety of adventures on a hike to find the body of a dead boy. It is also a story about how parents let their kids down and the disillusionment a child feels when they finally begin to deal with real-world problems on their own.
Review:
This movie will bring you through a range of human emotions. One moment, you will be laughing out loud, both at them and at your own memories of childhood, at the next your eyes will moisten as you connect with the kids in the story. I've read both the story and watched the movie and, although I like the writings of Stephen King, I have to say that I prefer the lighter ending to the movie than the one in his novella, "The Body," on which this film is based. Truly, a movie that I will never tire of.
On a side note, River Phoenix stars in this movie and the fade-out at the end is almost a prophetic tribute to a child-star that died too young. River, the entertainment world still misses you. This movie shows the scope of your undeveloped talent.

"I never had friends like those I had when I was 12 years old. Jesus, does anyone?" Truer words were never spoken.

So what other King adaptations do you rate highly? For me there aren't that many ...
Salem's Lot, Misery, The Dead Zone ... I really like The Shining, but its so removed from the novel in many ways, and I love the novel, one of King's best.
