Cinema Voyage - Michael Pearson

This blog is PRIMARILY about movies. Some dvd and some that are still in the theater. Also, links are provided on some movies if you decide you want to purchase it. Also, I write and read quite a bit. So, you may, from time to time see a book review here from an up-and-coming author or an interview with one. If you have a book that you have written, please don't hesitate to contact me if you want an unbiased opinion. I would be happy to read and review what you've written. We should value our creative people more.

Basic Storyline:

"Only the most unbelievable parts of this story are true."

Tsavo - translation- "a place of slaughter."

At no time in history has a place been more aptly named. Patterson (Kilmer) has been commissioned to build a bridge for a rail system that could cross much of the continent of Africa. When they come to the area known as Tsavo, an unusual thing happens, two male lions band together and begin killing the workers. When Patterson is unable to deal with the problem, big-game hunter Remington (Douglas) is brought into the situation. It is a situation where the lines between predator and prey become smudged and not everything is what it seems. Remington and Patterson believe they are facing simple lions, but the locals say these are not lions, they are the spirits of two angry tribal shaman. They are the ghosts in the darkness.

Review:
Possibly the most under-rated movie in twenty years. An excellent film in which Michael Douglas showcases his considerable talent, and Val Kilmer has his most pivotal role since Doc Holiday in Tombstone. The story is based in fact, and if you are still an unbeliever, visit the field museum in Chicago, Illinois. The lions are mounted and on display there.

SCORE 9 out of 10
