Whatever Works
May 3rd 2009 05:45
Woody Allen's latest comedy Whatever Works stars “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David alongside Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler) and Patricia Clarkson (Married Life, Vicky Cristina Barcelona).
Having had a premiere last month at the Tribeca Film Festival, the movie centres on an eccentric man, Boris Yellnikoff (Larry David), from Greenwich Village who gets caught up in a series of love stories which get him in tangled up with a young girl named Melodie (Evan Rachel Wood) and her parents (Patricia Clarkson and Ed Begley Jnr).
This movie has been cited as a return to Woody's typical form writing comedies about dysfunctional relationships and Larry portrays the eccentric New Yorker that Woody himself has played in the past.
The movie opens to a limited release in July.

One that I didn't think was up to his real standard was Scoop. I was really disappointed in that but I'll look forward to whatever works. Thanks for the tip.

There are actually couple of his later movies that I haven't gotten around to seeing yet - Cassandra's Dream and Melinda and Melinda - so I will have to make a conscious effort to try and seek them out.

I haven't seen Cassandra's Dream either but I really enjoyed Melinda and Melinda even though I wouldn't rate it as one of his best.
