Cinema Voyage - Michael Pearson

This blog is PRIMARILY about movies. Some dvd and some that are still in the theater. Also, links are provided on some movies if you decide you want to purchase it. Also, I write and read quite a bit. So, you may, from time to time see a book review here from an up-and-coming author or an interview with one. If you have a book that you have written, please don't hesitate to contact me if you want an unbiased opinion. I would be happy to read and review what you've written. We should value our creative people more.

When are they going to release a new album???

April 7th 2008 06:57
Some of my favourite bands/artists have not had any new songs or albums out in the past couple of years, leading me to do a little digging to find out what is on the horizon for my favourite music artists.

*Fiona Apple – After three reasonably successful albums ‘Tidal’, ‘When the Pawn’ and ‘Extraordinary Machine’ Fiona Apple paved the way for other successful female singer/songwriters such as Regina Spektor and Norah Jones. Apple’s music is deeply rooted in early jazz, piano driven melodies, pop, electronica, and alternative-rock.

After the release of her third studio album ‘Extraordinary Machine’ in 2005 (actually recorded in 03, shelved, then re-recorded and released in Oct 05) Fiona virtually dropped of the radar, on October 27, Apple along with Sheryl Crowe and Avril Lavigne performed at the 1st Annual GirlFrenzy Festival.
Apple is now apparently working on her fourth studio album, release date TBA. Lets just hope its soon!!

*U2 – I was lucky enough to catch U2’s concert in Sydney in November 06 and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. U2 have made 11 studio albums, ‘How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb’ was their 11th and latest album released in November 2004.
Cited by ‘Rolling Stones’ magazine as #22 in their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time, U2 have sold more than 170 millions albums. A new album is so far set to be released in October 2008, and has been described as having ‘trance influences’.

*Green Day – After the monumental success of ‘American Idiot’ a whole new generation fell in love with the American punk rock band. Green Day has made seven studio albums with ‘Dookie’ released in February 1994 and ‘American Idiot’ released in September 2004 being the most successful. An 8th studio album is expected to be released this year.

*No Doubt – After being on hiatus for the last 5 years, No Doubt are set to release the much anticipated sixth studio album in early 2009. The last studio album was released in 2001, so for fans it has been quite a long wait.

As well as Muse who are currently working on a new album to be released in late 08 early 09.

And of course Coldplay’s fourth album entitled ‘Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends’ which will be released on 17 June 2008 and it has been quoted that it will be “the album that people will remember them by”.
